In Arizona, transferring high-value sUAS equipment like LiDAR-equipped drones or cinematic gimbals requires more than a handshake. Under Ariz. Rev. Stat. § 47-2201, sales of goods over $500 must be in writing to be enforceable. As a Part 107 pilot, a Bill of Sale is critical for documenting the transfer of FAA-registered assets, mitigating liability for future airspace violations or privacy complaints, and ensuring compliance with Arizona's community property laws. This document provides the 'as-is' disclaimers and specific payload descriptions necessary to protect both parties in the technical drone industry.
Beyond the standard bill of sale sections, this template adds fields specific to Drone Pilot:
A Bill of Sale serves the core legal purpose of providing proof of the transfer of ownership of an item from the seller to the buyer. It formalizes the transaction and fulfills the legal need for documentation of the sale, aiding in preventing disputes over ownership and clarifying the terms and conditions agreed upon by the parties involved.
FAA Regulation Violations
Contracts can specify that pilot maintains active Part 107 certification and compliance with all FAA guidelines.
Privacy Invasions
Agreements often include clauses ensuring compliance with federal and state privacy laws, as well as specifying data collection practices.
Arizona is a community property state. If the drone was acquired during a marriage, it may be considered joint property. Our Bill of Sale includes seller representations to confirm the seller has the sole legal right to transfer the title, helping avoid future ownership disputes.
No. While this document serves as your legal proof of transfer under Arizona law, you must still manually update the FAA DroneZone portal to cancel your registration or transfer the sUAS under Part 107 regulations.
Given the high risk of property damage or crash liability in drone operations, an 'As-Is' disclaimer—integrated into our Warranties and Disclaimers section—protects the seller from post-sale claims regarding the drone's flight performance or gimbal calibration.
For high-value commercial payloads or thermal imaging systems, notarization is highly recommended to provide an extra layer of authenticity and ensure the document is easily enforceable under the Arizona Consumer Fraud Act should a dispute over identity or intent arise.
